A yellow-red like tangerine peel. Compared to orange, Mandarin Orange has less red and stronger yellow. In daily life, however, Mandarin Orange is also simply called orange. Japan's most beloved variety, the Unshu mikan (satsuma mandarin), was introduced from Wenzhou, China, to Kagoshima in the early Edo period, and later spread to the Western world. It is said that the Meiji period — when satsuma mandarins became widespread — gave birth to the more vivid color name "蜜柑色" (mikan-iro), superseding the older "柑子色" (#f6ad49).
