"柑子色" (kōji-iro) is named after the Japanese citrus Citrus leiocarpa. It is an orange slightly paler than Mandarin Orange. As a color name, it is an older Japanese traditional color than Mandarin Orange (#f08300) and Orange (#ee7800). It is said to be dyed by mixing gardenia and safflower. This reddish yellow is also thought to be closely associated with Buddhism.
