A glossy black, like lacquerware coated in black urushi lacquer. It also refers to a pure black — the color of a world "pitch dark" with no light at all. Though the black substance of lacquer is achromatic, it does not reject the subtle colors reflected by light. A logical paradox, perhaps, but a wonderfully imaginative color name.
